Robbe & Berking est une manufacture d'orfèvrerie dont la longue tradition remonte à l'an 1874. De génération en génération, cette vieille entreprise familiale ne cessa de peaufiner et de perfectionner l'art du travail de l'argenterie, jusqu'au standard élevé actuel. Une grande partie du savoir-faire artisanal des grands maîtres d'antan a ainsi pu être perpétuée dans la collection. Les couverts et les plats portant le poinçon R&B sont considérés par les connaisseurs et les amateurs du monde entier comme des œuvres d'art inégalées de l'orfèvrerie.
Alta a reçu des prix prestigieux du design et est exposé dans 8 musées importants comme réalisation exemplaire de l'orfèvrerie d'art contemporaine.
Un modèle qui fait honneur au grand nom qu'il porte. La forme exprime l'harmonie absolue et révèle le parfait équilibre des proportions qui fit la célébrité de Thomas Chippendale.
Très tôt déjà, les orfèvres d'Augsbourg utilisent le filet d'argent simple ou double en guise de bordure. C'est aux alentours de 1760 qu'apparut le modèle au filet (Faden en allemand), tel que Robbe & Berking le propose aujourd'hui avec "Alt-Faden".
Une ménagère bien composée comprend de toute évidence aussi les couverts à poisson, les fourchettes à gâteaux, la pelle à asperges ou encore des pièces comme le couteau à fromage, le couvert à salade, le couvert à découper, pour n'en citer que quelques-uns. Robbe & Berking propose plus de 50 pièces de couvert individuelles pour chaque modèle. Chaque pièce est décorée avec amour selon sa fonction et assortie au modèle correspondant.

On the occasion of its 75th birthday the Museum of Modern Art in New York was
rebuilt and enlarged. This created the unique opportunity to experience the
highlights of the MoMA collection in almost complete form for the first time
outside Robbe & Berking received the order to entirely equip the new big MoMA restaurant with “Riva”. Pure and present.
It goes without saying that cultivated tableware must include fish cutlery,
cake cutlery, asparagus servers and other pieces such as cheese knives, salad
servers and carving sets, to mention but a few. Robbe & Berking make more
than 50 different cutlery items for each pattern. Each individual piece is
designed with the greatest care and attention to suit its particular function
and the cutlery form.
