The Victorian era is generally viewed as one of the most
outstanding periods of English culture. Its special elegance is recaptured in
the pens from the Writers Edition Charles Dickens. The barrel, made of the
finest greenish precious resin, is decorated by the writer’s signature.
The 925 sterling silver fluted cap and the rhodium-plated 18-karat gold nib,
with its engraving of the monogram of Charles Dickens, provide an elegant
finishing touch to this tribute to the most famous author of the Victorian era.
 
The design of the Writers Edition Franz Kafka is not only
reminiscent of the simple and yet artful style of its eponym, but also pays
tribute to Kafka’s most famous work: “The Metamorphosis”. In the fascinating
change from square to round in the writing instrument’s form, the metamorphosis
described in Kafka’s story has found its equivalent.
Top, clip and rings made of 925 sterling silver offer a thrilling contrast to
the dark red translucent aura of the barrel. A further reference to “The
Metamorphosis” is on the rhodium-plated 18-karat gold nib: a finely engraved
cockroach.
 
With his pseudonym of Mark Twain, the American writer recalled
the defining period of his life spent as a steersman on the Mississippi. The
design of the writing instrument is also inspired by the river that had a
lasting influence on Twain and his work:
The sinuous curving lines on cap and barrel, made of deep-blue precious resin,
reflect the shallow waves of the river. The top of the cap is shaped to resemble
the Mississippi steamboat chimneys, whose steam is illustrated by ivory-coloured
precious resin.
 
Thomas Mann’s masterpiece “Buddenbrooks” has brought him
immortality and has turned him into one of the most famous writers of the 20th
century. Montblanc is paying tribute to this unique wordsmith with an equally
unique Writers Edition. The platinum-plated inlays in the rich black lacquer of
this writing instrument are inspired by the age of artistic creativity in which
Thomas Mann lived: the Art Deco era. The interplay of colours and materials
symbolises the different relationships between the characters in “Buddenbrooks”.
 
Dark green marbled lacquer punctuated with platinum-plated
fittings. These are the style features of the new Writers Edition in honour of
the distinguished Irish free thinker George Bernard Shaw. This pen is inspired
by Shaw’s best-known character from his play “Pygmalion”: Eliza Doolittle. Just
as Eliza, a poor flower girl, is brought up to be an aristocratic lady, so the
fine platinum of the pen is replaced more and more towards the cap by the
opulent dark green of the precious resin.
 
The Writers Edition “Virginia Woolf” is oriented impressively
to the literary heritage of the writer it is named after: 75 years after the
publication of the novel “The Waves”, finely engraved guilloche work recalls
Virginia Woolf’s most outstanding work and her eventful life. In the form of
waves, the guilloche work covers the body of jet-black precious resin,
underlining the lighty curved silhouette.
 
The design of the Writers Edition Miguel de Cervantes was
inspired by the windmills whose shape is reflected in the writing instrument and
clip. Their form, tapering in opposing directions, symbolises the different
characters of the hero Don Quixote and his squire Sancho Panza.
The body of the Edition shines in brown marbled lacquer and is embellished with
the writer´s signature. The handmade 18-karat gold nib is delicately engraved
with the outline of a windmill.
 
The Writers Edition “William Faulkner” is dedicated to the
literary master of modernism. The shape and surface of this unique writing
instrument are reminiscent of the novelist’s early creative period and the style
of art déco. The black-brown precious resin, shimmering like mother-of-pearl,
meets the bright brilliance of the platinum finish with its subtle ring
structure. This represents a shift in point of view as we encounter it in
Faulkner’s works.
 
The Montblanc Marlene Dietrich Commemoration Edition reflects
the charisma of a woman who, beyond her achievement as an actress, has left a
legacy which is both timeless and enduring. The Edition is dedicated to today’s
generation of women who, like Marlene Dietrich, believe in the power of their
dreams and have the conviction to fulfil their visions.
He wrote music history and captured the feelings of
generations: This Special Edition honours and celebrates the genius of John
Lennon. The clip is in the form of a guitar neck and the handcrafted
rhodium-plated 18 K gold nib bears John’s message:
the peace sign. The Special Edition is rounded off
with the platinum-plated plaque - engraved with Lennon's famous self-portrait.

The
History of Montblanc
In
1906, three men shared the dream of manufacturing fountain pens of the highest quality.
Nearly a century later their company would be responsible for preserving the legacy of

1906 Entrepreneur Claus Johannes Voss and
Merchant Christian Lausen with the aid of Wilhelm Dziambor founded the Simplo-Filler Pen
Company.
1910 The Simplo-Filler Pen Company name was
changed to the official trade name Montblanc. Legend has it that the founders decided to
name the company Montblanc during a game of scat when an analogy was drawn between the
highest mountain in Europe, Mont Blanc, and their desire to create writing instruments of

1913 The cap with the white star was introduced.
The white star represents the snow peaked cap of the Mont Blanc mountain.
1919 The first Montblanc Boutique opened in
Hamburg, Germany.
